Great news! We have finally completed the post-production work for our CD, Drive The Cold Winter Away. Last week we had our final mixing session. Everything sounds lovely! After mixing we had gourmet meal of pizza, Michael's excellent English flapjack (not to be confused with American flapjacks) and cake. With our CD playing in the background, it really felt like a Christmas party, only there were yellow and reddish brown leaves on the trees outside instead of snow. :)
Mom took the master copy of our CD to Superdigital (the place in charge of reproduction) today, and the graphics - after crazy last-minute changes on text for the CD jacket - are ready to go as well. We're so close up against deadlines it is scary. But when I think about the 1,000 copies of the CD getting made, I get excited. (I also wonder where we're going to put all those between the time we get them and the CD release concert!)
We are now preparing for the CD Release Concert, which is, I think, the funnest part of all. It will be held in Gladstone Christian Church's Community Hall as before. We'll play all the music from the CD, as well as some additional music for the enjoyment of all! See below for more information. We hope to see many of you there!
Onward to the release!

Harvest Party
Last Saturday we attended the harvest party of my childhood dreams! A red barn, lights strung out in front over a hay-strewn dance area, tables of good food, live music for some of the dances, but recorded music for others so the musicians could dance themselves, a young person's party - with just a few parents looking on as chaperons, a bonfire with s'mores and hymn singing at the close. Yes, it was the sort of party my paper dolls used to attend on the living room floor. The sort I'd read about in books. The sort I'd always thought it would be fun to attend, but I thought were restricted to a day gone by. A sort of dream lived out. Being homeschooled is pretty amazing!
Dressed up warm even for dancing.

It was fun to have live music on a few dances, but we were glad we didn't have to play for every one. About halfway through the evening our fingers got to cold to play!
There was plenty of good food and pleasant conversation.
Doesn't it look like a fairy tale...uuhh harvest party?
