CD Release Concert Photos

At long last I'm posting the still photos! Thanks to Elsie D. and Kami C. for the photographs.

As the guests arrived Noah and Daniel A. handed out tickets for the CD drawing.

The room began to fill and some of us went out to greet folks.

When I stepped out of the door I was amazed by the crowd! Nearly 300 people came for the concert.

The entire family performing "What Child Is This?" We wore our Renaissance costumes. Each of us girls had made our own, I made mom's, and Krista made Dad and Noah's costumes.

It was as absolute delight to have Noah join us with is guitar and voice!

Lynn and Noah listening.

Kathrina, Krista, Lynn and Terry playing the fascinating, rarely-seen Renaissance crumhorns. Terry pulled out his Renassaince costume from the 1970's.

Kathrina providing a beautiful violin lead.

Intermission featured an estimated 100 dozen cookies and sweetbreads, not to mention tea and delicious hot cider!

Neva helping someone purchase their copy of Drive The Cold Winter Away.

Krista received comments on her effortless and beautiful style of recorder playing!

Sarah's piano provides a solid and dependable basis for our music.

This was the only concert this year where I played both my lever and pedal harp.

Terry, Elsie and Noah soaking it in.

Mom and Dad looking on fondly.

Back by popular request, we had Irish ceili dancing at afterwards. We girls played for two dances then we put on recorded music so we could dance one.

Pre-concert Post!

Getting ready~ Here it is! I'm excited to share with you some of the behind-the-scenes moments of putting on a concert for nearly 300 people. Friday was an exciting day of practice and preparation. I didn't keep track of time; I just moved forward.

Aunt Paula and I discussing decorating possibilities.

Our friends Mallory and Elsie worked in the kitchen baking dozens of cookies. They were indespensable!

In the afternoon we went over to the church and set up chairs and tables, and most of the decorations.

That night we signed CDs for special people closely involved in the production of the CD and concert. We also made out a detailed schedule for Saturday. We worked it backwards from the time we wanted to leave to the first shower at 6:00a.m. There was also a schedule for the afternoon including setting up, sound checking, warming up, and dressing.
Saturday~ The morning flew by. I hardly remember what we did besides load the vehicles!

Mallory and Elsie loaded all the cookies we'd been storing up in the freezer.
We arrived at the church in three different vehicles, at three different times, and started various tasks.

Mallory busy baking the cookies...

...which piled up beautifully...

...tray by tray.

Terry, Michael, and Lynn arrived and set work on the sound system. Mom supplied lunch and special "voice" tea. At about 3:30 in the afternoon, we began an important and extensive sound check.

Then it was time to lock the doors to the hall :), and dress.

Aunt Ludo was a great during this backstage time - our three-piece Renaissance costumes can be quite a chore and she was right there to do lacing, give make-up tips, and help where ever help was needed!

Meanwhile the refreshments were ready and waiting (and tempting).

Some dear friends of ours arrived in time to help with hair! I'm doing Krista's hair, and in the background Heather is doing Janna's.

Coming up next~ the Concert!
