Moments with the Dictionary of Music #14

Presto [It.]. Very fast, i.e. faster than allegro. Prestissimo, as fast as possible!

"Quote from Performane Markings: ...Experienced musicianship seems to have been as much a factor as tempo markings; despite the often elaborate tempo directions given in mid-18th-century scors, Leopold Mozart (1756) asserts that 'even if a composer endeavors to explain more clearly the speed required....one has to deduce it from the piece itself, and this it is by which the true worth of a musician can be rcognized without fail.'"

Yay! My favorite! Very good quote too.
On another note, are the rumor that I been hearing true that you all will be attending Booher Music Camp this Summer?

I enjoyed seeing you all this weekend!

"On another note" no pun intended right? :)
Now that you've gotten to the fastest speed possible, what are you going to define? Back to general music terms? You don't have to answer me if you don't want to, you can be all secretive if you want to :D.

Okay... I'd have to agree with Bethany, Prestissimo is my favorite! The finale of Franz Liszt's 2nd Hungarian Rhapsody is marked at Prestissimo... It sounds glorious!... if you're Lang-Lang!

@Daniel: You really have learned a lot from these definitions! I'd say you need some more of them!

I agree! (hint hint) :)

Wow, I leave for the weekend and all activity on blogger stops completely. I expected to have like three or four posts to catch up on... How odd :)

Daniel- are you really asking for more definitions!?

Blogger also recently "shut-down" for about 24 hours or so.

Hmmm... It's been a little more than 24 hours :). Maybe I don't understand...
