Last week, our family got to take some time off and visit our aunt and uncle in LaPine and play in the snow! Our aunt and uncle are the perfect hosts, keeping us well fed and providing a roaring fire. It was a time to relax, renew and get away from everything. We did not bring our instruments! Sarah and Janna rejoiced in the time to catch up on their reading.
We often get open-mouthed stares when people see how many suitcases our family of seven has to bring along! Below, our baggage is packed and ready to go.
We love traveling together in our beloved brown van. We laugh and chat and Mom reads to us while Noah is always looking foward to snack time. We were thankful the highways were clear of snow the entire way.
Uncle Bill and Aunt Paula took us to Mt. Bachelor to go tubing. It was a cold, foggy, rainy day, but we still had loads of fun. There was a rope tow that hauled the tubes to the top of the slope so we got a ride both ways!
The rain fogged up our camera lens, but below you can see Mom, Dad, and Uncle Bill starting off on a wild ride down the slope! At first it looked like such a steep, long hill, however a few runs cured us of any apprehension...we were having too much fun.
This cute gray squirrel is enjoying peanuts in Aunt Paula's back yard. He'd better keep an eye out for her cats!
We could not totally avoid music. To keep their feet warm while waiting, the children danced a lively mazurka!
Noah, Krista, and Kathrina built a snow cave inside a huge drift in the front yard! It was impressively roomy inside! Noah could not convince anyone to let him sleep in it, though.
Seven pairs of skis waiting for us to finish lunch! We enjoy cross-country skiing.
The mountain chickadees are quite tame and love to eat the crusts from our sandwiches.
We enjoy skiing to rustic warming huts and having a picnic lunch. It feels like being in a chalet in the Alps!
