Happy Tenth!

On April 10th, our only boy and youngest child turned ten! How quickly the years have flown by! One thing that has not changed is Noah's enthusiasm for very "boy" things. This has had different manifestations over the years, but a recurring theme is his enthusiasm for cowboys. He loves to wear his cowboy boots and has both white and black cowboy hats. This year, we girls were excited to discover The Booher Brothers. Our aunt and uncle had told us of attending their cowboy supper show in eastern Oregon, but the band really came to our attention through our involvement with the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival (which you can read about here), for which the Boohers were the featured entertainment. Though we didn't get to attend the festival and see them in concert, we discovered their website and decided to buy Noah a couple of CDs for his birthday. We girls used to listen to bluegrass music but our tastes have changed over the years. We were in for a pleasant surprise when we found how much we enjoyed the Booher Brothers' CDs. With a definite cowboy/bluegrass flavor that was also reminiscent of Roy Rogers and The Sons of the Pioneers, the Booher Brothers' music ranges from cowboy ballades to fun western songs to hymns arranged in western style. Their arrangements are lovely, and their instrumental talents are top notch, while their vocals portray all the vigor of young men enjoying themselves. All in all, the time we spent listening to The Booher Brothers was just plain fun!
