Booher Family Music Camp Part 1

We just came back from a week at this ranch, in the beautiful Scotts Valley near Yoncalla, Oregon.

The entire week of music classes, jam sessions, concerts and fellowship was organized by this musical family.  (L-R: Chris, Rudi, Ned, Brendan, Ben)

We camped on their parent's lawn.  Mother Booher was in charge of the outdoor kitchen which kept us well fed.  Brendan arranged for us to be bused to the local highschool for music classes from nine to three-thirty.  All the boys taught, plus some other great musicians from the northwest.  Sarah, Janna, and Krista took piano improv; Kathrina was in the advanced fiddle class; Noah took guitar lessons, and Mom and Dad had private bass lessons.   Afterwards, one could choose between dance lessons, volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, pond swimming and more.  Each night there was a concert or big jam session.  On Tuesday night, all the musical families performed.  We shared These Are My Mountains and our Lord of the Rings medley.
Thursday night was band scramble night.  Names were randomly thrown together from all the classes to form eight different bands, each with a teacher for a band leader.  In two 1 1/2 hour sessions, we had to come up with a song, arrange it for our band, and have it ready to perform.  Janna's band performed The Irish Washerwoman.
Noah and Krista's band grooved on the 12-Bar Blues.
Dad and Kathrina's band performed a medley of Oh, Susanna and Country Roads.
Mom and Sarah's band performed a rendition of Miss Molly with the words changed to fit the Booher family.
After band scramble, we had dancing, and for anyone who knows we girls, you know that makes for a good time!

More to come...

Wow! You all had such a great time!

Sarah: I must admit that there is a yes and no answer to your statement on our blog…
No, we didn’t copy that from the movie on your blog!
But… yes we did get that idea from the Boohers!
It was eight years ago when we went to their “Diamond B Chuck-Wagon” and Brendan and Meriwyn did it with Violin and Guitar! To this day I’ve never forgotten it and so it was fun to re-create that gimmick!
BTW: I know we played the same song and all… but that’s just because Jordan could only play that one! 
You all should do one too! We’re working on a VERY difficult one………. ;)

Hey,
This is Josh Lindberg.
I wanted to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed you guys at camp this year, especially in the dance class where I would like to thank you for all that you were able to do to help me learn along side you.

Also, you're CD's were an awesome listen to on my ride home, I love your guys' musical mix that you are able to produce!

I hope you have a great year, and I'll possibly see you next year if you attend and so do I.

Daniel: No, we've never done square dancing, but I'd love to give it a try sometime.

Bethany: We've talked about doing a musical gag for a long time...one of these days we'll have to realize our ideas. :)

Josh: Thanks for stopping by! It was certainly fun to dance together at camp. I'm so glad you're enjoying our CD's, too. Have a wonderful summer.

Hello to the talented Bisceglia Family! It was so fun having you all at camp last summer. Thank you so much for posting camp news and photos.

Thank you, too, for the great testimonial you sent about music camp for our updated website. It should be finished by Mon. or Tues.

We are doing a lot of footwork for our next camp, which will be July 24-30 this year. Our family concert will be on the 23rd, just before camp.

All is well here in Scotts Valley. Mike has been out pruning our fruit trees, and I've been spending a lot of hours preparing info for the website. It's fun, but I'm really wanting to get outside during this beautiful weather and get some gardening done!

Love to all,
Mother B
