Happy Father's Day!

Hi! I hope all of you fathers out there had a lovely and blessed day yesterday!
Dad wanted to go on a hike to celebrate Father’s Day and so we found a little waterfall in one of our hiking books and set out.
Our destination was Cherry Grove. After an hour and a half of driving we came to a highway which was not on our map and had signs to any town except Cherry Grove! We were quite lost. Needless to say, the other cars seemed to have a very clear idea of where they were going and kept honking at us. Finally we pulled into a driveway. At first I though it was a junk yard, but then I noticed a little house and realized this was actually someone’s residence - someone, apparently, with a deep infatuation for broken down vehicles. A shabbily dressed old-timer came out of the house, looking exactly like Mr. Darling (from the Andy Griffith show).

Dad asked for directions to Cherry Grove, and he said in a low, drawling voice, “Weeel, that ain’t exactly an easy place to get to from right here, but if you’ll step over to my truck I’ll try an shown you”, and he pulled a map from one of his few drivable-looking trucks.

We eventually found it, parked in the only spot not monopolized by “no parking” signs, and off we went. But that’s not the end of my story!
It was only 2.3 miles into the falls, but by the time we got there I had already used my first aid kit twice! Noah and Krista took a side-trail to view the Tualatin River and when they reappeared Noah’s knee was gashed in three places with blood dripping to his ankle. Out came my kit for antiseptic and bandages. Next Krista’s foot began to blister! “I’ve had a first aid kit in my pack for twenty-five years and never used it,” Mom said. “ And you’ve used yours twice in one hike!!” It is a tradition of Krista's to bring a recorder with her one hikes so that she can play at the destination!
