The Common Bond of Music

Last January, shortly after we released our CD, we received our first order from "a stranger". We wondered who this person, who was ordering a CD "for a friend", could be. We made up all sorts of preposterous life stories for this unknown man, not excluding the possibility that he was buying the CD for a fiancee! Several months later, we heard from a young lady who shared how her fiance had given her Journey Through The Highlands as a gift the day before he proposed and how a song from that CD as well as our work for Never Be Shaken had made a difference in their relationship. We were thrilled and happily mailed her the music she requested, saying it would be lovely to meet her sometime. She came from a musical family too!

Anyway, much to our surprise, we got a chance to meet the couple and have them over for dinner in July. It was a bit odd inviting these newlywed complete strangers to our house, but we found that our common bond of music, as well as our background in homeschooling and our interest in filmmaking helped us "click" and we had an absolutely wonderful afternoon! We played music together and our new friends sang for us the words they wrote to the tune of Homeward Bound. The whole afternoon was a tribute to the power of Christian hospitality and the amazing universal language of music. We were so blessed!
