When most people think of September 22, they think of fall. We do recognize that change is in the air, but September 22nd means something else to us! It is Bilbo and Frodo Baggins' double birthday! If you have seen us perform our Lord of the Rings arrangement, you know how Tolkien's tale has intertwined itself with the music by Howard Shore and left a lasting impression on our souls. If you haven't heard our interpretation of Shore's score, then, according to various audience members, you are missing something great! So, strange though it sounds, each 22nd of September we bake a cheesecake and say we are celebrating the hobbits' birthday. Really, we are celebrating our journey to Middle Earth, the tales and heroes found there, and our experiences learning how music can create such vivid pictures in our imaginations.
