Literary Ball

We had a delightful time at the Literary Ball! This ball took place in the McMinville Grand Ballroom - beautifully strung with lights and gauze.

Kathrina came as Princess Eilonwy from the Prydain Chronicles, complete with a golden bauble.
 Sarah was Laura Ingalls
Krista was Rose Gamgee (Cotton as was!) from the Lord of the Rings
I wanted to wear my paternal Grandmama's dress my aunt had just given me from the 1930's.  I paired with with my maternal Grandmother's mink stole and jewelry from the 1950's.  The question was, what character to be?
I finally chose Velvet Brown, from "National Velvet". Now I know I don't look anything like Elizabeth Taylor, but in the book Velvet had blond hair, and this was a literary ball.
Kathrina finished her dress the morning of the ball!
 I loved this girl's outfit.
We made Plum Puffs from Anne of Avonlea.
A Ringwraith sought to terrorize Rose Gamgee.

I always love the costumes David P. comes up with!

Afterwards Jon grabbed me for a swing dance.  I hadn't had a chance to do it since we learned at Booher Music Camp, so I had a blast!
Attempting to learn the Charleston.
The whole group of dancers.

Sarah~ I really like that you dressed up as Laura Ingalls! I just finished writing an essay on her for a "Chapter Contest". :)

The character I portrayed, Princess Eilonwy, carries a golden bauble. It lights up when she needs a light (acting like a lantern). :)

What nice pictures! I love the costumes! :)

I like Kathrina's dress... green is a great color! What are the "Prydain Chronicles"?

Daniel: I was excited when I saw the ringwraith at the ball. :) It was fun to take the photo.

Sarah: Thanks! Your costume was lovely, too.

Thank you, Bethany! I'm glad you like the color of my gown...I was delighted when I found the fabric.

The Prydain Chronicles are a Medieval-style fantasy series consisting of five books, written by Lloyd Alexander. I believe he wrote them in the 1950's or 60's.

Kathrina: So I have to tell you this... ;)
When my sisters came home from shopping today, they brought me a rope/sash that I am suppose to wear for a musical event we're participating in tomorrow... anyway, I had to laugh! It was exactly the same color as your dress! :)
Now I have the "great green color" too! :)

Shiloh: hey it's not _my_ fault none of you comment first ;).
Kathrina: lol, if I was there I probably would have said "Oh man why didn't _I_ think of that :).
I think I might check the library for this new set of books, all this studying (note the sarcasm) is getting boring, and a little fiction could be just the thing :).

Daniel: or perhaps it's because I am so busy doing other things... ;)

Actually, I saw this post before there was comments.... I should have commented then. :)

Yeah, I actually hadn't checked blogger for a while, so when I did, I was kind of surprised that no one had commented :).

so... now that we have _that_ resolved, what intriguing topic are we going to talk about next? :)

Kathrina~ You all need to do another post soon! Daniel needs something else (an "intriguing topic" as he puts it) to "talk about" and comment about. :)

On another note or "intriguing topic"~ We enjoyed seeing you and Krista the other day! :)

Yeah Kathrina, I keep getting bored at the college, and we all know that Facebook can only provide so much entertainment, so I would have to agree with Shilo, I am in dire need of something to comment on... ;)
